VelociCoaster and new design tech
Opened June 10, 2021 to the public as Universal's newest and most thrilling attraction
This new thrilling coaster was intended to give Incredible Hulk coaster a run for its money with a higher top speed, increased air time, and the largest vertical drop on an INTIMIN coaster in Florida.
Making space
VelociCoaster was set to demolish and replace a well loved attraction known as Triceratops Encounter where guests could come face to face with a realistic triceratops and take pictures. Typically this encounter was a big hit for families and many were disappointed to see it go before hearing about the new upcoming attraction that was set to replace it..
Unique tech and Thrill
This ride is a double linear synchronous motor-drived (a form of electro-magnetic propulsion containing no moving parts) coaster manufactured by INTIMIN.It reaches a 155 feet tall rolling drop, has a max speed of 70 mph, with two LSM launches and has over 4,700 feet of track. Along the ride, the coaster passes goes through a variety of twists and turns providing maximum thrill. The first launch sends guests down the track at a speed of 50 Mph, while the second speeds the train up to the highest speed at 74 mph making the second half of the coaster even faster than the first.
Queue
Having guests pass through a raptor encounter and be prepared for the road ahead, many guests felt "fully immersed" in the Jurassic world as they passed through the winding queue with a honeycombed high-tech ceiling interacts with the area soundtrack, witness a launch on the coasters first LSM launch to 50 mph, and walk past raptor animatronics that sense guests and shoot compressed air through the nostrils to simulate the creatures breathing; all leading up to the loading station.
